Step-by-Step Guide: Connecting Gear VR to Regular Minecraft Servers

20 July, 2023

Minecraft Servers

Minecraft, the immensely popular sandbox game, has evolved over the years to support virtual reality (VR) experiences through devices like Gear VR. This integration allows players to immerse themselves in the blocky world of Minecraft like never before. While the Gear VR version of Minecraft offers a fantastic VR experience in its own right, many players still want to explore the vast world of regular Minecraft servers using their VR headset. In this step-by-step guide, we'll walk you through the process of connecting your Gear VR to regular Minecraft servers for an unforgettable multiplayer experience.

Please note that Gear VR has been discontinued, and some of the information below may apply to other VR devices or future VR iterations.

Step 1: Install Minecraft for Gear VR

Before you can connect to regular Minecraft servers, ensure you have the Minecraft app installed on your Gear VR. You can find and install the Minecraft app from the Oculus Store on your Gear VR headset. If you already have it installed, move on to the next step.

Step 2: Launch Minecraft in VR Mode

Put on your Gear VR headset and navigate to the Oculus Home. Locate the Minecraft app and launch it to enter VR mode. Once inside the virtual world of Minecraft, access the main menu to proceed with the server connection.

Step 3: Access 'Play' Menu

In the main menu, look for the "Play" button and select it. This will lead you to the list of available Minecraft worlds and servers.

Step 4: Choose 'Servers'

Within the "Play" menu, find and select the "Servers" tab. Here, you can access various servers, including regular Minecraft servers hosted by the Minecraft community.

Step 5: Add Server

To connect to a regular Minecraft server, you'll need to add its IP address or domain name. Look for the "Add Server" option and click on it.

Step 6: Enter Server Details

A pop-up window will prompt you to enter the server details. You need to input the server's IP address or domain name in the appropriate field. Additionally, you can provide a name for the server to help you recognize it easily.

Step 7: Save and Join

After entering the server details, click on the "Save" button to save the information. Once saved, you should see the server's name appear on the server list. Select the server you want to join, and Gear VR will automatically connect you to the chosen server.

Step 8: Enjoy Multiplayer in VR

Congratulations! You are now connected to a regular Minecraft server using your Gear VR. Explore the server, join communities, collaborate on builds, and experience the joys of multiplayer Minecraft in virtual reality.

Important Tips:

  • Ensure that you are using the latest version of Minecraft on your Gear VR for optimal compatibility with regular servers.
  • If you encounter any connection issues, double-check the server details you entered and your internet connection.
  • Some servers may have specific rules or modifications, so be sure to review the server's guidelines before participating in multiplayer activities.

Connecting your Gear VR to regular Minecraft servers opens up a whole new dimension of gameplay. Embrace the immersive experience and interact with players from around the world while exploring vast worlds of creativity and adventure. So, don your VR headset, follow these simple steps, and embark on unforgettable multiplayer journeys in the captivating realm of Minecraft. Happy mining and crafting!
